Subj:   Re: Installing Teradata on RedHat Linux Enterprise AS 4.0

From:   D silva, Joseph Vinish

When installing Teradata on Red Hat Enterprise 4 AS using the command rpm -i <rpm file> it's coming back with an error 'error: Failed dependencies: ./tdata.so is needed by tdodbc-03.04'.

I can't vouch for surity (as it's been a while since I played around Red hat), but I think rpm might cribb about "not having things", even if the package is there, provided that file set was not installed via rpm, (like say you unzipped a tar.gz containg the files or something like that).

During my college days --force was our brutal but must needed option to rpm if you had to survive with Linux ;)

If you are successful with that, you might try setting the lib paths to have the required shared libs and try running things

Just my alternative school of thought
