Yes, it's possible to use Nested Join for outer join, though not likely.

The outer table (left table in case of left join) spool must be small enough that the optimizer is willing to duplicate it on all AMPs, and the ON conditions must cover a NUSI on the inner table.

USIs are never used for nested join.
