Works a treat in Fastload. Many thanks, Geoffrey Rommel, you've saved the day. We were on the verge of considering doing all FastLoads in Fixed Position - which I didn't want to do - so this means we can move forwards with Separated Files.

For your and others' interest, I've developed a script using Erwin which will auto-generate all our FastLoads (based upon our Oracle operational feeds). Actually, it's a bit more than just the Fastload (which is the easy bit), as it creates DDL for Work tables prior to the FastLoad and creates syntactically correct Insert/Selects and Updates through a Join SQL for population of the target table.

Time to create a full load script, using this approach : 1 minute (max).

I would urge others to consider such an approach as the financial savings, we expect, to be considerable.
