To give you a little idea of what you can do with Teradata MetaData Services:

I did a pilot project for a client using MDS where we loaded the Teradata related metadata into MDS. We then used bridges that you can buy or custom develop to load data from Cognos catalogs, ERWin EDW models, ERWin Source System models, and load utility scripts.

After this was done the end user could use the web-based client that comes with MDS to pull up a Cognos report and drill down through individual field on the report to the Cognos catalog to the view(s) the catalog reference to the table(s) the views referenced to the load script that loaded the tables to the source system table/column that the data was loaded from.

That's what the client wanted, but is only a small example of the information that was now available to every user/developer/manager/analyst by loading all of this data into MDS.
