Jack, Please clarify what helped the performance. 1) Queries were able to take advantage of secondary index on join index. 2) Presence of statistics on Multiple column index on a join index made PLAN better even when secondary index was not used. Number one is something that is a given. The real question is did you see the second case? Also was the secondary index maintenance and space cost justified in the plan change. This can be quantified by using DBQL to find the extra CPU and IO when loading/maintainung the tables versus savings in CPU on queires that have a new plan. Thanks, Bob Diehl
