Subj:   Re: Logical and physical rows

From:   Fields, Dave

Vijay:

I read the following in one of the manuals

"By default, a NUSI defined on a joined index will maintain rowid pointers to only physical rows.In order to use the NUSI to cover the data stored in a join index, Rowids must be kept for each associated logical row ".

The second statement is a bit confusing for me. Can someone throw some light on what is meant by a 'logical row'(as in the above)? Or is there a different connotation to the statement which im unable to grasp :( ?

Read the description of join index compression in the same manual and you'll find out what the term "logical row" refers to.
