Thanks Anomy, Michael and Sanjaya for your replies.

I think the way I did of dropping the date into a file with .export and pulling it back into the query in a USING clause has it's problems - because there is no way to see the value forensically. I cannot access the TD manager to see the real procedure of how the query is working for some dev standard/policy,

BTW: Michael, sorry for the confusing but it was just a pseudo code I put here to say that PPI doesn't work for joins.
