If you are running NetVault, nvtrigger will be your friend; just install the TWM/TWS client on the NetVault server or any NetVault client, and you can trigger the job. The -wait option will wait for nvtrigger to return with an exit code. If you are running NetBackup, things are more complicated, bpbackup -I will return almost immediately and give an exit status that reflects the launch of the job (not the exit status of the actual job). Various sites have implemented scripts to query NetBackup about it's activity, but this is something you will need to develop yourself. HTH Regards Ysbrand Ysbrand Bergman
