Subj:   Teradata Vprocs Configuration for 5400/5450 HW

Hi All,

I wan't to know something regarding Teradata Hardware configuration. Like how to decide what will be the best number of AMPs and PEs per node.

I was going through manuals and found that there is some calculation like 32MB for each VPROCS. The maximum should be given to FSG(something 80-100% of the remaining memory after vprocs assignment).

Other than that what else we need to consider.

Like memory is one thing. What are the other parameters we should consider on deciding what should be best figures for AMPs and PEs per node which can give the maximum capacity/throughput for the overall system.

How the number of AMPs and PEs effect our application etc...

Actually here the configuration is having 12AMP per node and now the recommendation is it should be 8AMP per node rather than 12AMP. As we are not getting the maximum capacity. I thought more number of AMP will give more parallelism till it is not hitting any other area.

The space of the DISK is also matters? like each AMPs should be X GB of disk space only etc..

Any comments will be welcome!

Thank You
