Subj:   Re: Updating many macros in one process

From:   Dempsey, Mike

Sorry, that will not work.

SQL Assistant only allows one Create Macro statement in a Query. (This is due to problems trying to parse the 'statements' - it can not differentiate between the ';'s delimiting the statements within each macro and those delimiting the CM statements themselves.)

Pity you cant wait until July as the next version supports keyboard macros.

That would allow you to record a macro for the 'replace' functions (change view name and Create-->Replace) and then play it back (one keystroke or button click) for each macro before you execute it. (You would still have to load and run each replace statement separately however.)

BTEQ will allow you to string all the Create statements into one file and execute it as a single job however.

>From a time point of view I dont really see this saving you any time, compared with doing each separately. (Unless you have an app that will perform the edit on all the files and string them together.)

However, if your site does not allow dictionary changes during 'normal' hours this would be a good way to go so that you could schedule the job to be run during 'off' hours.
