It's the wonderful "Database Design" manual again just read the next Chapter 11: Secondary Indexes

At least it will be probably no 1:1 migration, because the concept is different, e.g. you can't access directly the Join Index.
If you compare functionality then in most parts JIs are mainly a subset of materialized views.
