BTEQ also allows importing data, and allows you to logon multiple sessions so it should be faster.

SQL Assistant should not take very long to load 3500 rows though... a couple of minutes maybe. (Unless the rows contain large LOBs.)

Have you made sure that ODBC tracing is not switched on?
