Response: From Windows 2K and up the user can be made to not able to modify the registry. If that is the case, please work with your windows support team to see if there is a compromise for your location. I just try it by adding a new DSN to my ODBC data source. I then used REGEDIT to find the ODBC.INI in ODBC of SOFTWARE under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. I selected by highlighted the ODBC.INI and export to a file. I then removed the newly added DSN from my ODBC data source. I check the regedit and it is no longer there. I found the exported file and double click it. It asked if I want to add the entries to the registry. Click OK. It then post message of entry had been successfully added. I check the regedit and it is there. I open my ODBC data source administration and the removed DSN is now back. I have been to several places and use the same method without a problem. I am not sure how the privileges are setup in your environment so I would suggest working with windows support to be sure you do have ability to edit registry. Thanks. Samuel Chu
