Andrea, I am sorry if my reply was confusing.
Yes, I think your solution might work but the point of the question (as I see it, anyway) was that they wanted to do the UNION inside the view
first and then give this "simple" view to the users. Unfortunately, the OP has not yet confirmed this so it was just a speculation on my side
(based on prior experiences of this kind and the threads on the forum; this question is not exactly new).
Perhaps they are more flexible than I am assuming they are, and they will take your solution. But you have to admit, Andrea, that they might
have thought about this solution before, and the fact that they still come to the forum with this question probably suggests that they are looking
for something else. Again, this is just a speculation on my side, so don't take my word for it. I just tried to add the "usual context" to the
question.
If you are OK with this more challenging set-up, do try to come up with more solutions!
