  I think it is due to day(4) to Second(6) because if diff is more then 30 days then it is going more then 6 digits for seconds.  


I don't think so. SECOND(6) indicates that the fractional precision is 6 digits. That should not cause the overflow.

Could the overflow be caused by the DAY(4) part? This only covers about 27 years. If your intervals are outside of this range then you will get an overflow. If this is indeed the problem, you could sort out the "year calculation" first and then the rest.

I'm pretty sure this has already been discussed on this forum so you might find the formulae in the archive if you do not feel like deriving them yourself.
