Hi Victor, The original post was looking for database capacity. This is pretty straight forward but does not try to indicate what you can use this capacity for. The pricing document is adding a factor for the way the data is stored and what spare capacity is required for spool etc. They are using a factor of 0.27 to go from Actual Data to disc capacity. Eliminating the 0.5 for Raid 1 and .915 for OS Overhead they have used a factor of 0.6 to go from MaxPerm to User Data Capacity. This figure varies dependent on how the data is used. Factors to include: Spool Requirements Index Requirement Fallback Overhead Compression (this is to the good) The 0.6 figure will be a typical figure avrived at by looking at systems in the field. The different classes of data warehouse vary the storage per node to give different performance characteristics. Daniel O'Hara
