| Does anyone have information/tests/etc on using Fastload or Multiload loading many millions of records into an empty table with no
SI/triggers and suchlike in V2R6. | |
| I have heard that the utility of preference is Fastload but have been unable to find NCR documentation on this subject | |
FastLoad can *only* load into an empty table. If you intend to load data into empty tables anyway, you could potentially consider both and
MultiLoad and decide for yourself which tool provides the best of features and performance. You could also consider another tool called
TPump.
All these tools have many years of history behind them, and they seem to be well documented. Manuals can be downloaded from www.info.ncr.com.
You should also be able to find them on the web site of this Forum (please see the signature) but perhaps not for each minor release (please note
that releases of utilities do not exactly match database releases). The archives of the Forum will give you hours, if not days, if not weeks, of
fascinating reading on each and every aspect of using the tools. Do make yourself familiar with at least a couple of dozens of recent threads so
that you can get the general feeling of what is involved to make a better choice for your project.
Yesterday, I had a chance to advise to hire a consultant in a different situation. I, obviously, do not want to repeat this advice in each
thread but I can't resist mentioning this option here because the right choice of utilities can make a big difference on any project.
Regards,
Victor
