Subj:   Re: Intro to AMP Level queries

From:   Meade, Cornelius

As an AMP is a logical processing unit within Teradata, every query processed in a Teradata system involves processing by one or more AMPs. For example, in a system with 100 AMPs, a full table scan of all the data rows in a table that is equally distributed would involve some amount of processing by all 100 AMPs in support of completing this request. In fact in most instance the individual AMPs perform their respective sub-tasks in parallel. This divide and conquer sort of approach is at a basic level, a strength Teradata.

Can you explain what it is that you are trying to accomplish?
