SQL Assistant itself (or TD Admin) has no code that would automatically disconnect you after a period of Idle time.

ODBC has a timeout for the logon command but not for a simple Idle session. (or at least not one that I am aware of)

This means that either there is a timeout set in the Teradata Gateway (I dont know if that is possible either) or there is a management tool running that specifically aborts Idle sessions after a set period. (Both Session Information and the Alerts system, in Teradata Manager, provide this functionality.)
