Hmmm....your post sounds a little suspicious to me in that it seems to suggest the possibility of malfunction or defect with the process you are using.....

I suspect what may have been intended to be conveyed is that multiload and/or fastload are generally more efficient at populating large amounts of data into new or existing tables. That does not mean there is a functional problem with using insert/select to do what might be considered large data loads. If the performance is acceptable and it fits your need, there is no reason to change what you are doing that I can think of.
