I think that depends on what is there in the UNION statement ... if all the select queries in the UNION is sure to return non-identical rows, then it's better to use UNION ALL to avoid dup checking effort .. But ofcourse if you have the possiblity of same rows repeating and needs to avoid it, then you have to go for UNION. Joseph Vinish D'silva
