Thanks Dieter, that sounds distinctly plausible.
Not sure how to find the Orange book, googling tends to find references to "Early group by" and "Partial group by" as 1 line comments in
release summary type documents, without any actual detail as to what it is supposed to do. In the V2R5.0 manuals I can't find anything at all for
"Early group by" and minimal info on "Partial Group By".
Anyway, sounds typical that something I think will be of huge performance benefit in many of the queries that get submitted here always appears
to be in a "future release" no matter how many times we upgrade :-)
