Subj:   Re: Partitioned Primary Indices - Is there a way to see

From:   Dunweber, Ole

How do I know how many rows are in the partitions?

In R6.1 you can collect stats on the partitioning column.

Last year at Partners I discussed an idea to keep track of which partitions had data, with the PPI-folks (to get better estimates for the optimizer).

I believe they said that it had been considered, but would slow down inserts too much.

I reckon that keeping track of precise number of rows in partitions would be a lot more expensive.

So I guess we will have to do with the stats.

Thanks,
