Subj:   Re: Accessing Data across two servers

From:   Victor Sokovin

Can I access data across two serves in Teradata database, as I can do in Oracle by using database link.

I am aware that this is not possible in Teradata either I would need to replicate the table in any one of the teradata server,.

I think you are right that it is not possible from within a session at one of the Teradata servers.

The closest solution would be to use an ODBC application which can logon to both Teradata servers and join tables. Of course, this is the same idea of data replication. The join occurs in the ODBC application, not in Teradata, and the data has to be transferred across the networks. Could stil be OK for a quick ad hoc task, though.

Regards,

Victor
