<-- Anonymously Posted: Monday, September 19, 2005 17:58 --> At a larger client we are looking into implementing failover without losing active sessions on a Unix based Datawarehouse system. The initial thought called for an active and a passive switch, cable nodes redundantly to the active or passive switch. Upon failure the IP was to be assumed by the standby switch. The only visible change at the NCR level was the MAC address. Seems like NCR does not support such a scheme. Losing the sessions has some detrimental impact on batch jobs that require to be analyzed and either cleaned out or restarted. All in all quite a bit of manual work. My questions are: a) do other companies have similar requirements (session preservation on failover)? b) If so, how is this done architecturally? Thanks in advance
