Subj:   Complex View causes EVL Stack Overflow

From:   Donald Iuppa

Hello all,

I have a complex view which I am able to create successfully.

I am substring data into a column and then using that column to create another column using casts and then doing date math on the resulting columns.

I may be several levels deep, basing one column upon another.

When I select from the view I get the following error:

"7487 AMP step failure: Please do not resubmit the last request. AMP 3 on 001-01 error 10417 (EVL Stack Overflow: ExecOp) in Step(2): Retrieve from"

I can change the view by removing one of my derived columns to eliminate this error but I want that column.

I tried simplifying the view by creating another view as a first pass and then basing the final view on that but it produces the same error.

I am very confident that this is good SQL; I can actually remove different columns to make the error go away.

I am running 05.01.01.00 on Windows 2000.

Is there some configuration parameter which increases the stack space?

What state is my server in? Is a reboot required?

Thank You,

--Don
