Subj:   Teradata Stored Procedures and ETL

From:   Anomy Anom

Hi all:

I'm developing Stored Procedures ETL templates. Including things such as:

     - error management
     - metadata
     - logging
     - error traceability
     - error tables
     - process control
     - dependency control

The project arquitect has established stored procedures as the standard for ETL development.

I've found stored procedures programming somewhat difficult in teradata. Teradata stored procedures language is not as good as the ones available for other RDBMS's. So the question is:

Is this stored procedures approach common practice in teradata dw projects ?

If this is the case, is there a good samaritan willing to share some of his/her templates with me ?

I see no need for cursors in this project, nothing that cannot be done using the Teradata SQL OLAP extensions.

Many thanks.
