  When opening the file, within step 3 of assistant, mark all columns and use 'Text' as datatype.  


  Thus no changes to the original data is done.  


This works if the file has the .TXT extension. .CSV files seem to bypass the assistant. Interestingly, after you have opened the file you can change the cell format to NUMBER (with the appropriate precision), and the column looks fine. But changing the format to TEXT does not seem to help although it works with the assistant. Most annoying feature as it often affects timestamps.
