Subj:   Re: How to Identify LOCKS using Data Dictionary and Queries.

From:   Sankar Yaddanapudi, Pranav

Mohan,

The best and faster way (I am not sure if any other way exists) to check the pending locks is to use the RDBMS utility Checktable. Find below the simple syntax of Checktable utility for this purpose.

     check all tables at level pendingop;

Note that running checktable at PENDINGOP level will not take much system resources and will complete within minutes. Other Checktable levels which will also tell you the same information do require high system resource as they mainly perform table integrity checking.

More information on this can be found from:

Teradata RDBMS Utilities manual
Chapter 4: Checktable utility
Pendingop-Level Checking

Checktable utility can be run in different ways like below.

a) Start Checktable from "CNSTERM 6" which you have to do on the node where Teradata is running

b) Start Checktable from "Teradata Multitool" utility

c) Start Checktable from "Teradata Manager" (Remote Console utility)

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Pranav Sankar
