Subj:   Re: FORMAT Issue with FLOAT datatype?

From:   Dempsey, Mike

This has been mostly answered but I'll add a little more here...

In Queryman / SQL Assistant, you can set the default number of decimal places to be displayed for FLOAT fields by using the AnswerSet tab of the Options screen. (Default is 0 or 2 depending what version you are using.)

If you want to change this value for a specific column (or columns) in an answerset then select that column and right click to display the menu. From the menu select 'Decimal Places' then choose from the values 0 - 4. (If you need more than 4 select 'Format Cells' instead.)

You can also specify whether thousand separators (commas) are displayed.

If you want to apply your own format to the column data you must cast the column to a CHAR(n) datatype in your select. (Note that unless the format you specify uses zero padding you will not be able to sort the column numerically - it will sort as a character field.)
