I see in the SQL DDL manuals for v2r5.0.3 (our current release), v2r5.1.2 (anticipated as our next release) and in v2r6.1 (latest GA release) that one is not able to grant a Role on a table WITH GRANT OPTION. Why is this so? I understand that the Role can be granted WITH ADMIN OPTION to a user and thus the user can grant another user on that Role, but what if I want to grant a role (say Usergroup_admin role) select with grant option on a table allowing them to grant this onwards to other roles/users? This is a pretty serious limitation in my opinion...... or am I missing somthing very obvious? NCR say that this is an ansi standard, but I was wondering how anyone out there gets around this without doing somthing like creating a seperate role for each table!
