Hi All,

I have 2 Qs regarding partitioning.

1. Why is it that a unique primary index cannot be defined if the partitioning column is not included as a part of the PI? I want to understand the "theory" behind this!!

2. Will range partition work only for dates?

a. How do we RANGE partition a set of integers between 1 and 100 in buckets of 10.(i know this can be done using case .. but can it be done through range??)

b. what is the correct way of partitioning character data. lets say i want all names between A and I in one part, J to P in another part etc.

Just asking as a matter of curiosity. I dont have a real world scenario at hand!
