If you are running any non-Teradata jobs on the nodes (eg. Unix jobs) those sessions would not show up in PMON.
(There should however be at least one session displayed - the PMON session itself. If that does not appear then there is a problem.)
If you are running in Client mode the Teradata Manager server would be running. If you have it set to collect a large amount of data - too
frequently - it could use a large amount of cpu. (Unlikely but possible.)
