The approach I would suggest is : 1) Make a note of all the possible ways you can think of that might solve the problem (if you can't think of any the Teradata manuals are often quite useful as a starting point). 2) Develop and test each possible solution being careful to note which are the successful ones. 3) Evaluate all of the successful solutions on any other relevant criteria such as performance, site production standards, ease of future maintenance etc. 4) Decide which solution to adopt. 5) Implement the solution. I am sure others will have different approaches but I find this works well for me. Good luck Howard
