Hi,

A little more information on this subject because it was cross posted to www.teradata.com forum. Maybe some of you in user land might know more because I am just a file system person.

Subject: Reg : Linux

We will be having all Teradata jobs such as BTEQ and that will be scheduled in Linux which has to be executed in NCR-MP-RAS Teradata database. It is not juz a matter of scheduling the jobs but their execution also.

Let me explain the current situation:

In Mainframe we are having all our jobs and we are submitting into mainframe. The various utilities are loaded in the mainframe. The BTEQ job is coded, the JCL is coded and FTPied to the mainframe. Then for testing purpose we submit the job. At the appropriate step, the utility is invoked and the BTEQ script is executed. To do all this (submission of jobs, navigation thru the mainframe) I use a tool called DRIFT.

Using Drift which is installed on each Windows desktop, I connect to mainframe and carry out by activities. The mainframe in turn contacts the Teradata server which is a separate phyical machine and executes the dmls.

Now, I want to do away with the mainframe. So I plan to replace it with Linux clusters. I am looking for some similar tool for Linux.

Regards

Babu Gopal
