Subj:   Re: How to handle logins in scripts and Ascential DataSTage jobs?

From:   Michael Larkins

Brad:

As discussed in a multitude of threads in this forum and documented in the utilities, bteq, Mload,TPump and FastExport all have the ability to do a .RUN command. In them, you specify a file that contains the logon command. You place this file in a secured area and therefore it is not able to be viewed by others. Notice that the output of running the script does not display the password, only the userid.

The only utility that lacked this ability was FastLoad. However, a recent thread contained a reply from an NCR person who indicated that in the most recent version of FastLoad contains a RUN command to provide this same capability.

So, replace the .logon with a .run. Then, get the most recent version of Fastlaod and replace the logon with a run.

I encourage you to search the archives of this forum to see additional options as well.

Hope this helps,
