Just a thought:
Donald has made some good suggestions. As another thought and I have not ever tried this but, If I were in your situation I would also try
using the NULLIF '00000000'xb on the fields that are causing you the problem. Again, I have never used this technique with a VARTEXT field
definition but what have you got to lose?
