| I have dedicated connection between Teradata box and Win2003 server via Gigabit card. I'm, performing simple export SELECT * FROM in
fastexport. | |
| The effect is that export takes approximately 5 x longer that fastload of the same data to the table. | |
What is the disk storage solution on the Win box? How efficient is it? In the worst case scenario you might be writing to just one physical
device. That would be a bottleneck that you don't have while FastLoading, where many disk would be spinning at the same time making the load more
efficient.
You could conduct a simple test by, say, ftp-ing the same amount of data from the TD machine to the Win box. How much time would that part of
the job take?
I second that optimizing the number of sessions could help a lot (not x5, though). Try to use just 4 sessions as both min and max. It is often
a good starting point.
