Subj:   TABLE Current Perm not updated after running DEFRAG or PACKDISK

My system FSP is 10% and there is no FSP option specified in the Create Table for any table.

If I run the SHOWFSP utility it shows average of 45% free cylinders on one particular table.

If I do a DEFRAG with FORCE option on this particular table, the output shows that for each AMP an average of 2000 cylinders are placed on the defrag list. After completion of this I am still not seeing any Reduction in the Current Perm of this table.

A related question - If I run a Packdisk (and assuming it does pack a lot of cylinders) will I see a reduction in the Current Perm of the table.

The question I am trying to ask is When is the Current Perm Space updated with the space released by DEFRAG or PACKDISK?

If there is no reduction of Current Perm, then there is no Business Buy-In for running these Teradata utilities. It is difficult to communicate the benefits to them.

Thanks in Advance
