How can I capture CLI errors in a JCL?

Depending on a lost connection between MVS and TDP0, I have to generate an email informing system administrators about the failure.

My JCL after every certain interval, try connecting TDP0. The moment there is a connection failure, a mail should be triggered.

What CLI error code will be generated and how it can be used in a JCL?
