hi,

could anyone please tell how sorting is done in teradata.

for ex :

     select * from emp where sal > 30000

Each AMP will do sort for the rows which it can access to.But when row from all amp merge how does it guarantees that the final result (merged rows) is sorted . If so where does the sorting is done after the rows merged.

Is whether the final sorting (after merging rows) process is taken care by parsing engine?
