Use the "FOR USER" clause of the Modify User statement.

eg.

     MODIFY USER xxx PASSWORD = atemppwd FOR USER;

I dont think this clause is supported on the Create User statement (not sure why not) so if this is a new user you would have to first create it, then modify it. (I think this feature was introduced in 5.0 ... but it MAY exist in an earlier release.)

If you use Teradata Administrator you would simply check the 'Temporary' checkbox to the right of the Password textbox. (Introduced in TDAdmin 6.1)
