look at the tdp manual under cells. there are commands that you can use to display cells usage and you can add additional cells to the tdp start up parm. look on ncr @ yourservice for a knowledge article on tdp tuning. xms cells are cross memory cells. different utilities on teradata use different cell size buckets. if enough cells are not available you can experience some delays in processing through the mainframe Customer received message indicating a shortage of cells: TDP0021 **WARNING** 100% OF 992 BYTE CELLS IN USE Explained the meaning of the output of the TDP DISPLAY CELLS command. Recommended that about 50% more 992-byte cells be added via the TDP ADD CELLS command(s) in the TDPPARM dataset: ADD CELLS SIZE 992 NUM 500 ADD XMSCELLS SIZE 992 NUM 10 References to Procedures: For information about tuning memory cells in TDP, refer to: 1. Teradata TDP Reference manual, chapter 3, "Performance Measurement and Tuning", section "General Tuning Options", subsection "Tuning TDP Cells to Optimize Performance", and 2. NCR Support Knowledge Article ID S1100099BEA -- "Additional details for tuning memory available to TDP" . Christopher Platt
