Subj:   Upgrading to TTU 7.0 on HP-UX

From:   Conley, Mary M (Shelly)

We are going to upgrade an HP-UX server from TTU 6.1.1 to TTU 7.0. The installation guide is not clear as to whether the old software totally removed.

Ch. 2 says
Installing Upgrade or Maintenance Software
As they are made available, NCR may inform you of software upgrades, higher-level releases, or maintenance releases. Before you install either upgrade or maintenance software, you should copy the software already installed on the client system to another directory. Then, to install the new software, follow the procedures given in this chapter. You should not have to reset network parameters.

But Ch. 3 says
Removing Previous Versions of Software
Prior to the installing new versions of the Teradata Tools and Utilities, previous versions should be removed. Use the following procedure to check for any existing software and remove it: ....

So we're confused as to whether we should backup/install or remove/install. What have other sites done?

Thanks,

Shelly Conley
