Subj:   Re: Home grown performance reporting

From:   Andrew Thorpe

We have created our own reporting system which generates over 100 charts/listings and posts them on our intranet site on a daily basis.

Methodology

Run BTEQ scripts against the resusage tables and produce a flat file output

Read the flat file into SAS

Store 'detailed' data into SAS datasets

Produce charts (.gif format) and listings(.htm files)

Send output (using FTP) to our webserver (which includes handwritten HTML and JAVASCRIPT)

We produce charts to show the current Disk Capacity, CPU Usage by Application by Hour, Batch Job Start and End Times, Spool Space Usage, User information, Top (CPU and I/O Using) Jobs and Users, and 'Heartbeat' Usage/Summaries, and others.
