Hi, I guess my first question is why do you want to run packdisk frequently? Maybe you need to set up some Table level Attributes to control Cylinder Fill Factor on your BULK load jobs to allow for updating of your tables row at a time. If you leave extra space at load time you won't incur the CYLINDER SPLITS that require the packdisk to re coalese the cylinders. Have you talked to the GSC about your space management issues? Maybe they can help. You might want to view a previous post of mine www.teradataforum.com/teradata/20021010_060720.htm about how to use FERRET -- SHOW FSP to identify the tables which are using your diskspace and how to run FERRET -- PACKDISK just against the tables that will get you the most cylinders back.
