Subj:   Restoring just DDL

From:   ian.a.russell

I am after a way of replicating lots of databases from one Teradata machine onto another but not transferring the actual data just the DDL. The idea is to allow our developers to get their code syntactically correct before we allow them loose on the data.

Is there a way of getting ARC to restore/copy the database but not the data - I am thinking along the same lines as the create table as command that just creates the DDL if you do not specify WITH DATA.

If this not a goer then is it best to try to rebuild the tables from DBC.Tables. Does anyone have a script up their sleeves and does restored data, alter table commands and secondary indexes impact on this approach - anything else?
