Subj:   DeadLock in teradata

From:   Agarwal, Rishi

Hi,

I have designed an ETL job in informatica that is exctracting data from one database (teradata) and loading the data into another database (teradata). While running the job, it failed giving error that :

WRITER_1_1_1> WRT_8229 Database errors occurred:
FnName: Execute -- [NCR][ODBC Teradata][Teradata RDBMS] Transaction
ABORTed due to deadlock.
WRITER_1_1_1> Fri Nov 07 01:42:49 2003
WRITER_1_1_1> WRT_8220 Error: get deadlock when reading/writing database

WRITER_1_1_1> WRT_8333 Rolling back all the targets due to fatal session
error.

Any idea Why this deadloack occured? Isis beacuse someother user is trying to access that database object at the same time. If that is the case then what should be to done to avoid deadloack in such cases.

Thanks

Rishi
