Subj:   SQL Against Teradata via COBOL Program

From:   Tony Howe

Why when running a batch process using a COBOL program with a SELECT against a Teradata table using the primary index from a mainframe so slow. I have a customer processing an input file with 1.5 millions records where is reads a provider table on Teradata to verify it is a valid provider number. These tables are small and have STATs collected and job ran over 12 hours before being cancelled. Why does this type processing thru the TDP stink! If it were a similar DB2 table on the mainframe this would be done in minutes. Is there a better way for this to be handled in a Teradata environment?

Thanks,
