If this is being caused by the changes in the way derived tables are handled, you should switch this feature off as stated in the bottom
of the mail. We have done this on our site because, like many sites, we use derived tables when we want the optimizer to take a certain
route for performance reasons. I think that the default for this feature should be turned off as lots of sites will have legacy that will
either not work or become less efficient due to this tunable.
